Forensics Team Competes at Smoky Valley

The Minneapolis High School Forensics Team competed in the Smoky Valley Invitational Tournament on Saturday, January 30, 2010.  Fifteen schools attended the tournament.  Southeast of Saline placed 1st with 172 points, Moundridge was 2nd with 166 points, Ellinwood was awarded 3rd with 164 points, and Minneapolis came in 4th with 157 points.

Individual Medal Winners Were:

Prose:  Emily Rankin- 6th

Poetry:  Caleb Kindall- 1st 

Serious Solo Acting:  Dina Lyne- 2nd

Improvised Duet Acting:  Caleb Kindall and Charlie Lynn- 2nd

Informative Speech:  Lydia Swisher- 2nd

Original Oration:  Dina Lyne- 1st, Christian Orzano- 3rd

Other Competing and earning sweepstakes points were:  Keith Allen, Ellie Labes, Trystan Bingham, Holly Gehrke, Julie Gavin, Corey Egger, and Daryl Simmons.

" This was a tough tournament with very good competition," stated Mrs. Bergman, MHS Forensics Coach.  "I was pleased with our effort, but we have some work to do--that's what makes it fun!"

The next action for MHS is at Southeast of Saline on February 13, 2010.
