Jake Eckert, a junior at MJSHS, has been selected as one of nine Kansas Finalists for the 2009 U.S. Army Iron Man of the Year. Jake earned this honor by rushing 400 yards and scoring five touchdowns (42, 61, 74, 55, 54), as well as returning a punt for an 84-yard touchdown as Minneapolis won against Republic County, 48-0, on October 9.
In its 3rd year, the Army Iron Man program honors the best two-way high school football players in nine states: Kansas, Alabama, Delaware, Florida, Indiana, Maryland, Missouri, Virginia, and West Virginia.
