On October 13th, 2009, Nurse Tammy Schmidt officially announced that USD 239 has a confirmed case of H1N1.
Students are advised to take precautions and make sure to wash their hands, cough and sneeze into their sleeve, and use the school supplied hand sanitizers.
Symptoms include fever, fatigue, headache, runny nose, sore throat, cough, muscle aches, and chills.
Many students have been kidding and joking about H1N1. “It is out there, but it’s stupid to make a big deal about it,” says Connor Flegler.
Some would agree with Flegler, but others might not. Just remember that swine flu is no worse than influenza; but be aware that it is highly contagious in 19-25 year olds.
If you believe that you have this virus, please visit a physician. If it has been confirmed, it usually takes 5-7 days to overcome the side affects of H1N1. Please stay home for at least a full 24 hours fever free without the help of any medications.
