Minneapolis Show Choir headed to Bethany College September 24 to learn classical songs for contest.
KMEA (Kansas Music Educator's Association) holds this annual vocal workshop. Bethany College invites many schools from Kansas to come and learn more about vocal music. At the workshop, members of the MHS choir learned three new songs with lyrics in Russian, Latin, and German.
At Bethany, they began singing together with the Bethany Choir director. Then, they separated into four groups--soprano, alto, tenor, and bass, and attended separate sessions with different teachers.
When freshman Matt Comfort was asked what his favorite part was, he responded, "Okay, honestly, my favorite part was the food. It was really good, but learning the new songs was fun too."
Freshman Garrett Lott would agree. His favorite part was also the food, and when asked why, he replied, "Because those Swedish ladies can cook!"
"We pretty much just sat there for two hours, and when they told us to sing, we went and sang. Then, we came back and sat for a couple more hours," said sophomore Quinton Church.
