FFA Members Recognized at District Banquet

The North Central District FFA Banquet was held at Abilene on April 12 and hosted by the District FFA Officers.  Members representing the Minneapolis Chapter were Daryl Simmons, Analena Simmons, Cameron Walker, Connor Flegler, Kyler Macy, Jacy Crosson, Dylan Crosson, Danny Scharplaz, Tanner Davis, and Colby Berry.  Also attending were Josh Macy, Mel and David Crosson, Courtney, Vicki and Harold Walker, Janna Crosson, Steve and Alice Simmons, Jon Schmidt, Tammy Schmidt, Jerry Schmidt, Advisor and Dan Sweeney, Student Intern.

 

Tanner Davis and Connor Flegler represented the chapter by serving on a panel of voting delegates which selected next year’s district officers.  Daryl Simmons presented his speech as one of district officer candidates.  The Minneapolis Chapter received the National Chapter Award.  The National Chapter Award is based on the activities completed throughout the year in the areas of student, chapter, and community.

 

The first place teams and first place individual winners at district career development events (CDE’s) were also recognized.  The Poultry team of Dylan Crosson, Daryl Simmons and Garret Daugherty were recognized for placing first, along with Dylan for placing first individually.  Colby Berry was recognized for being the high individual in the Greenhand FFA information test.  The first place Ag Sales team of Dina Lyne, Jessica Smith, Kyler Macy and Dylan Crosson were recognized.  The first place Greenhand Ag Mechanics team of Danny Scharplaz, Tanner Davis and Daryl Simmons were recognized.  Danny was recognized for being the high individual.

 

Along with the teams being recognized for winning within the North Central District, Minneapolis had two members win district proficiency awards.  Dylan Crosson won in the area of Diversified Livestock Entrepreneurship and Fiber/Oil Crop Production.  Cameron Walker won in the area of Ag Mechanics Design and Fabrication.  They each received plaques and a $50 saving bond. 

 

Analena Simmons was recognized as a candidate for the American FFA Degree.  She will receive her degree in October at the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, Indiana.
