The Minneapolis Lady Lions volleyball team started off the new season with a big 5-2 record. The Lions first played in a Quad at Herrington, resulting in 3 wins for the Lady Lions with victories over Southeast of Saline, Clay Center, and Herrington.
Soon after, the Lions made the record 5-0 when they defeated the Sacred Heart Knights.
“I was so excited that we beat Sacred Heart! It’s always the best when you beat a rivalry!” said Kara Fraser, a starting sophomore for the Lady Lions.
This win was significant for many big reasons. One, Sacred Heart is a huge rivalry to Minneapolis. Second, the Lady Lions haven’t swept the Knights for more than twenty years.
The Lady Lions also took on the Beloit Trojans but came up short both matches that went into three games, putting their record at 5-2. “We should have won against Beloit, but I guess you can’t have every game go your way,” said Kelsie Paige, a starting setter for the Lions.
